CHAIR
SCOPE
The recent marketing of low-cost RGB-D cameras (like the Kinect) opens the field to applications where it is useful to combine, reasoning upon, and use in real time sensor data coming from a color camera combined with depth information. This is a hot topic in robotics, where researchers also with different backgrounds (e.g., in computer vision or machine learning) can contribute to the exploitation of such sensors for addressing a variety of problems. A partial list of subjects follows:
• 3D scene mapping and modeling
• Mobile robot navigation and SLAM
• People (including parts: hands, face) and robot tracking
• Dextrous manipulation, integrating also tactile sensing
• Surveillance and recognition
• Physical human-robot interaction
• Simultaneous calibration of multiple depth cameras
